$UICIDEBOY$ and Travis Barker just released their collaborative EP, Live Fast, Die Whenever. The pairing is not entirely unexpected. This latest project shows the Blink 182 drummer wading further into hip hop after collaborating with Yelawolf, Nottz, and Asher Roth. Ruby da Cherry also has roots in the punk rock scene.
The project is a tight-knit operation with the newly formed trio taking up the bulk of the credits. YouTuber Anthony Fantano is sampled at the beginning of “Aliens Are Ghosts,” where he talks about $UICIDEBOY$’ “formula” in a video called “I hate hip hop?” Munky also makes guest appearances on “Killing 2 Birds With 22 Stones,” “Individuality Was So Last Year,” and “DON’T TRUST ANYONE!”
Barker announced his project with the New Orleans duo on Joe Rogan’s podcast. “We just finished over the weekend,” he said on a Feb. 5 episode. “You go in there at noon, and you leave there at 4 in the morning every day until you’re finished because they’re only in town for a little while.”
