Where Are The New Lil Uzi Vert Songs His Label Promised To Release Today?

“Sanguine Paradise” & “That’s A Rack” are being held up by clearance & legal issues.

Generation Now’s DJ Drama and DJ Don Cannon recently announced that two Lil Uzi Vert songs, titled “Sanguine Paradise” and “That’s a Rack,” would be dropping today at noon. That time has passed across the US without the songs appearing, and fans noticed that Drama changed his Instagram caption from “noon” to “soon.” Now, one of the people involved in the track is speaking out on the delay and why the songs, which leaked last week, are dropping in the first place.

The two songs feature production by Oogie Mane and Brandon Finessin of the Philly-based collective Working On Dying. WOD’s manager Finesse (not to be confused with Brandon Finessin) explained in a series of Instagram Stories that the songs' leak prompted a scramble for their official release, but people at Uzi’s label were still pursuing clearances and and other legal issues:

Monday releases for anyone is hard let alone someone of his statue [sic] it takes a lot. From clearances to legal to making sure the music is ready. The leaks forced things and still everyone worked and is working to save these efforts and ultimately give u the best music possible. It’s tough really so please understand that know everything he does is legendary and those things take the most to make happen. Regardless we stand with him and yoh [sic] things will work themselves out thank you for your support. Obviously we don’t control releases of record [sic] we just produce and support them. Just like y'all we are fans too. Delays are natural in this business, but trust everyone is working on fixing this.

One of the clearance issues he may be referring to is on “Sanguine Paradise,” which leaked under the title “Money Keep Coming.” The track uses a reworked version of the beat from “Do It,” a 2012 song by Mykko Montana and K Camp. Uzi’s recent song, “Free Uzi,” was removed from streaming services due to its unauthorized use of the beat from G Herbo’s “Gangway,” and Generation Now may be trying to avoid a similar issue.

Although Uzi promoted the release of “Free Uzi” on social media, he has yet to speak about “Sanguine Paradise” or “That’s A Rack.” Last week, he expressed frustration with leakers, saying the unsanctioned release of his music would cause further album delays. The rapper has been in a protracted battle with his record label over the contract he signed in 2015, and it’s unclear how much has changed in the run-up to his new songs.
