Tame Impala Returns From A Four-Year Hiatus With “Patience”

The band is set to headline multiple festivals and may have an album on the way soon.

Tame Impala’s critically acclaimed third album, Currents, dropped nearly four years ago in July 2015. In that time, frontman Kevin Parker has worked with artists like Kanye West, Travis Scott, and Kali Uchis, and had Rihanna cover “New Person, Same Old Mistakes.” Now, the band is readying its long-awaited fourth album, and it rewarded fans with an aptly titled new single, “Patience.”

As the song title suggests, the lyrics address a long wait, hinting at changes in a relationship:

Has it really been that long?
Did I count the days wrong?
Did we just go back at all
All the way to step one?

The sound features atmospheric instrumentals with a driving beat and Parker crooning about the passage of time:

I should be flying straight, don’t be late
‘Cause time waits for no one

Tame Impala has yet to officially announce its next album, but Parker told Billboard last August that the band had “gone back to being my main focus.” With a new single out and headlining slots at Coachella and Lollapalooza, it seems like more new Tame Impala music could be on the horizon soon.
