Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road” took 2019 by storm and became the longest-running No. 1 Billboard hit ever, setting new records across the board. After Lil Nas X put out the ask on Twitter, Billy Ray Cyrus hopped on the remix, extending the song’s life. It is produced by 19-year-old YoungKio and appears on Lil Nas' debut EP 7. Genius recently sat down with the Dutch producer to break down the explosive phenomenon of a song.
“My life has changed crazy since ‘Old Town Road’,” said Kio. “Because when I was like the school kid that produced beats and just became better at it, my dream was to work with the big artists I listen to myself.”
