The producers broke down how the viral song was made.

Roddy Ricch’s “The Box” has gained massive popularity since the release of Roddy’s debut album, Please Excuse Me for Being Antisocial. It’s spent a total of four weeks sitting at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, and even sparked a slew of viral memes around the song’s “EHH-ERR” sound. Genius recently sat down with 30 Roc and Dat Boi Squeeze, the producers of the hit single, to break down how it all came together.

“What separates Roddy from these other niggas out here is definitely his voice.” said 30 Roc. “You may not be from the hood, you know what I’m saying? But you definitely feel what he talking about.”

“When I felt like it was a hit? Just scrolling down my Instagram, man. In every story, every post is ‘ee-err’ like, you can’t deny the ‘ee-err’,” Squeeze added.
