The Original Version Of Kanye West’s “Bound 2” Wasn’t Sample-Based

Today is the fourth anniversary of ‘Yeezus.’

Yeezus, Kanye West’s polarizing sixth album, dropped on this day in 2013. “Bound 2” is a standout that harkens back to sounds from Kanye’s past. The track is co-produced by Che Pope, Eric Danchild, Noah Goldstein, No I.D., Mike Dean, and Kanye himself. The song details a relationship, from meeting to hoping you make it through the holidays together; it also samples Brenda Lee’s “Sweet Nothin’s” and Ponderosa Twins Plus One’s “Bound.”

“Bound 2” went on to become a commercial success, peaking at No. 12 on the Hot 100 Billboard chart in 2013 and being certified-Platinum. Yeezus was also certified-Platinum.
