The Government Wants To Seize Martin Shkreli’s Unreleased Wu-Tang Clan & Lil Wayne Albums

‘Tha Carter V’ & ‘Once Upon A Time In Shaolin’ may finally be liberated.

Now that notorious pharma-bro Martin Shkreli has been convicted of three felony counts of fraud, the federal government is reportedly attempting to seize many of Shkreli’s most valuable assets. This includes $5 million from an E*Trade account, a valuable painting by Pablo Picasso, and two rare albums: Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter V and Wu-Tang Clan’s Once Upon A Time In Shaolin.

Buzzfeed reporter David Mack shared an excerpt of a document listing the assets the government is trying to force Shkreli to forfeit, which was confirmed by multiple reports:

Shkreli purchased the one-of-a-kind Wu-Tang Clan album back in 2014 for $2 million. He has shared several snippets of the songs on live-streams, but his contract reportedly stipulates that he’s not allowed to make the album available for public consumption for 88 years. Back in September, he listed the album on eBay, saying he “received scorn from at least one of [Wu-Tang Clan’s] (least-intelligent) members” for the purchase. Although it appeared to have sold for $1 million, the alleged buyer has not been identified.

Shkreli also owns a copy of Lil Wayne’s infamously unreleased album Tha Carter V, which he purchased from a third-party owner after Wayne left a copy of it in a Bugatti Veyron that he sold. Shkreli has also streamed several of these songs via live VidMe broadcasts, while songs like “Life of Mr. Carter” and “Start This Shit Off Right” have independently surfaced online.

The albums will presumably be sold to pay back Shkreli’s hefty fines.
