After teasing the song on social media over the past week, The Weeknd, SZA, and Travis Scott released their new collaboration, “Power is Power.” The song appears on For the Throne a new album from Columbia Records inspired by the final season of HBO’s Game of Thrones.
On the track, the three artists channel a classic scene from the Season 2 premiere, where Cersei reminds everyone of her power:
The Weeknd channels the House of Stark on the song’s first verse, positioning himself as one of the lords of the North:
I was born of the ice and snow
With the winter wolves and the dark alone
The wildest night, I became the one
And you’ll know you’re mine when the silence comes
Heavy is the crown only for the week
All three artists have collaborated before, although they’ve never been on a track all together before this. “Power is Power” is one of several high-profile collaborations on For the Throne, which will also include songs by Joey Bada$$ and A$AP Rocky, Lil Peep and Ty Dolla $ign, ROSALÍA and A.CHAL, and more. The full project drops next Friday, April 26.
