Tracy & Lil Uzi Vert Deliver A Rap-Country Crossover Single With “Like A Farmer (Remix)”

“I got horses in my car like a farmer.”

Rap-country crossover songs don’t exactly have the most consistent history. Although Nelly built a career by blending elements of country music with singing-heavy rap and Young Thug pushed genre boundaries with his recent album Beautiful Thugger Girls, the two genres are better known for awkward crossovers like LL Cool J and Brad Paisley’s infamous “Accidental Racist.” Today, Tracy (f.k.a. Lil Tracy) and Lil Uzi Vert put their own spin on rap-country music with “Like A Farmer (Remix).” The track adds a new Uzi verse to Tracy’s original, which first dropped earlier this month.

Over a guitar and trap drums beat by Gren8, both rappers take turns delivering accent-heavy verses blending typical tropes of country and hip-hop songs in a surprisingly effective manner. The song’s chorus features Tracy boasting about his whip with some unconventional talking points:

I got horses in my car like a farmer
Yeehaw, finna pick up your daughter
He want beef, I'ma have to get him slaughtered
He want beef, I'ma have to get him slaughtered

Meanwhile, Uzi offers to take his girl on some not so exotic vacations:

Yes, I have a tractor, you don’t like to fly
Took her on a trip to Texas, treat it like Dubai
I’m in Colorado Springs like I’m in Bora Bora
We get Tyson money, sell the chicken by the quarter

The song started gaining traction online last week after a video of rodeo stars dancing to it went viral on Twitter:

Tracy is best known for his work with the late Lil Peep, appearing together on songs like “Awful Things,” “Cobain,” and “Witchblades.” He’s the son of Ishmael Butler, a rapper known for his work with Digable Planets and Shabazz Palaces, and R&B singer Coko.
