Tyler, The Creator Aims To Buy His Neighbor’s House On New Song “DOGTOOTH”

It’s the lead single off the forthcoming expanded edition of ‘CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST.’

This week just got a little more exciting, as Tyler, The Creator has announced the March 31 release of CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST: The Estate Sale, the deluxe version of his Grammy-winning 2021 album CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST. Tyler has also released the project’s first single, “DOGTOOTH”, a self-produced winner that’s likely headed for the Genius Top Songs chart.

“CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST WAS THE FIRST ALBUM I MADE WITH ALOT OF SONGS THAT DIDNT MAKE THE FINAL CUT,” Tyler tweeted earlier today. “SOME OF THOSE SONGS I REALLY LOVE, AND KNEW THEY WOULD NEVER SEE THE LIGHT OF DAY, SO IVE DECIDED TO PUT A FEW OF THEM OUT.”

Featuring a sunny mix of piano and synths, “DOGTOOTH” finds Tyler principally concerned with a real estate deal, even though other exciting opportunities may also be on the table. Or so the intro suggests.

She could ride my face, I don’t want nothin’ in return
Her body count and who she fuck ain’t never my concern (I think it’s weird)
I’m tryna buy my neighbor house (We back at it, dogtooth, yuh, dogtooth, yuh)

But then comes the chorus, wherein Tyler clarifies the situation a little. He’s not just interested in this real estate deal. But he is really interested in this real estate deal, and he doesn’t have time to chat with anyone who doesn’t really know him.

She could ride my face, I don’t want nothin’ in return
Except for some her time and all her love, that’s my concern
I’m tryna buy my neighbor house and turn it to a yard
If you don’t know my grandma name, then we ain’t really dawgs, bitch

In the first verse, Tyler engages in some tasteful flexing. He doesn’t mind driving on cloudy days, because his paint job is just that bright, and he’s happy to spend what others would on a year of college to travel solo via private jet. After all, you can’t put a price on quiet.

Yeah, kelly green wagon look better when the gloom out
Canary shine brighter in the dark, I brought the moon out
The plane fly better when it’s just me and the pilot
Tuition for the mileage, it’s worth it for the silence

In the second verse, Tyler seemingly shouts out the late fashion designer and entrepreneur Virgl Abloh. Although they’d known each other for years, Tyler and Abloh became close friends around 2019, when Abloh helped the Odd Future rapper with his high-end Golf Le Fleur clothing line. Given that “DOGTOOTH” is supposedly an outtake from CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST, which arrived in June 2021, it’s likely the song was recorded before Abloh’s death in November 2021.

I shimmy through Paris in back of phantom of the threads
The driver’s seat of the Enzo could barely fit my legs
And Virgil my chaperone, he look out from overhead (Love you, V)
Not sure what you overheard but it’s prolly what I said, bitch

Tyler looks to raise a few eyebrows with the slight lyrical variation he chucks into the final chorus. But as he quickly explained on Twitter, there’s no need to send him a Father’s Day card.

She could ride my face, I don’t want nothin’ in return (In return, turn)
And will I ever fall in love again? I can’t confirm
I’m tryna buy my neighbor house and turn it to a yard
If you don’t know my daughter name, then we ain’t really—(Dawgs)

“DOGTOOTH” arrived with a self-directed music video that features Tyler walking a bunch of dogs, dumping out a box full of money from some kind of industrial tower, showing off his abs, and more.
