Tyler, The Creator Struggles To Leave The House On New Song “Come On, Let’s Go”

The track appears on the new compilation album ‘I Know NIGO!’

As anyone who’s ever listened to a standup comedian or watched a sitcom can attest, women sometimes take a long time to get ready. Hair, makeup, the whole bit. It can be very frustrating for men trying to leave the house, and that’s precisely the situation facing Tyler, the Creator on his new song “Come On, Let’s Go,” which appears on I Know NIGO!, the just-released album by Japanese fashion designer, producer, DJ, and all-around cultural icon Nigo.

I Know NIGO! executive producer Pharrell wrote and produced “Come On, Let’s Go” with Tyler. Their beat sounds downright impatient, with the incessant dinging mimicking the sound a car makes when you’re not wearing your seatbelt. Tyler (who evidently likes that punctuation mark in his stage name) is peeved from the opening bars.

I told your ass be ready, agh
You always got excuses and you know I be on top of things
Punctual my proper name, on the dot is not your aim

Tyler’s feeling antsy because it’s not like they can just drive wherever they’re going. He’s got to make a stop first, and you know how L.A. highways can be.

How you get a attitude ’cause I’m gettin' mad?
’Cause you wanna take twenty minutes and a half
And on top of that, I gotta get gas
Ahh, the freeway, picked up traffic

Tyler starts the second verse by reminding this girl how long it took him to get ready. Not very long, it turns out, and that’s because he saves time by wearing uniforms.

Took me twenty to get ready, agh
Shower, mousturizin’, the fit I had on yesterday
Uniform necessities, multiples are e’erything

It’s only later in the verse that we learn why Tyler’s in such a rush. They’re going to see a performance of the music he composed for late designer Virgil Abloh’s Men’s Fall-Winter 2022 Collection.

Gotta jet ’cause your boy leave at 8
And we got supper on the upper deck and the orchestra
Go play that shit I score (Woo), for LV Abloh projects (Yeah)

“Come On, Let’s Go” arrived alongside a music video, which Tyler also directed. It features the rapper pacing around outside a nice house and ranting into his phone. At last, the girl appears in a green dress, and for what it’s worth, she looks lovely.
