The collaboration didn’t happen because Zayn skipped the studio sessions.

Tyler, The Creator occasionally shares behind-the-scenes info about songs he’s worked on. Today, he revealed that he was saving his Flower Boy track “See You Again” for ZAYN:

“See You Again” is the fourth song on Flower Boy, and features Kali Uchis. The self-produced song is Tyler’s personal story of fantasizing about a lover that only exists in his mind.

He admits that he’s become totally wrapped up in his dream lover:
