Although the mysterious, social media-based singer Shiloh Dynasty hasn’t posted new music online since 2016, the performer’s short song snippets have increasingly popped up in rap music. Artists like XXXTentacion and Russ have previously sampled Shiloh, and today Young Thug added his name to the list. The third track on Thugger’s new EP On the Rvn, “Climax,” featuring 6LACK, includes a sample of Shiloh’s 2015 snippet “Loosing Interest,” which was later released as a full song with Timmies.
On the song’s chorus, Thugger raps:
You said no interest, said you found a better climax
You said he’s swagged out, you leave
It’s like a shot to the back
Don’t know why you think you’re better for you don’t want to go
But leave, like it’s nothing
This uses the same melody as Shiloh’s original version with altered lyrics:
Losing Interest, you won’t find no better than this
I swear girl, if you leave
Just let me know so it won’t hurt bad
When you move on
If you leave, just let me-
Shiloh’s original vocals are also used as part of the song’s beat, which is produced by London On Da Track. “Climax” is the first collaboration between Thugger and 6LACK.
Following Shiloh’s disappearance from social media in 2016, rumors swirled that the mysterious artist had died. Meanwhile, their music continued to circulate online. In 2017, XXXTentacion sampled several Shiloh songs on his debut album 17, and seemed to confirm that the singer had personally signed off on the clearances. Following X’s death, Shiloh appeared to return to Twitter, but has yet to post any new music. Back in July, Russ sampled Shiloh’s “Waiting” on “Tell Me Why.”
