About “Ben Folds Live”

Ben Folds Live is a live album by American piano-rock artist Ben Folds. It’s his first live album, released only a year after his debut solo effort, Rockin The Suburbs. As such, it contains a number of tracks from his three albums with Ben Folds Five.

The title is an obvious play on words – his band, Ben Folds Five, disbanded in 2000. The ‘L’ on the album art is actually an inverted ‘F’, further playing up this wordplay.

The album was recorded throughout the 2002 ‘Ben Folds and A Piano’ tour. The cover also features the crowd giving Folds the finger, a stunt he pulled at a concert in Boston, MA. A video recording of the shot also shows the crowd screaming “Ben Folds sucks!” at the camera.

The album received generally positive reviews on release, but has been largely forgotten in the years since.
