Keep the Faith

Bon Jovi

About “Keep the Faith”

Keep the Faith is Bon Jovi’s fifth studio album, and the first released by the band to have a title track. It was the group’s last album with all five original members, preceded by the exit of bass guitarist Alec John Such two years later. Besides, it was their first album not to be produced by Bruce Fairbarn since their sophomore record, 7800 Fahrenheit and it’s their longest record, with 66 minutes.

Sonically, the album departs from the glam metal vibe of the band’s previous works, turning to a more rock n roll approach. As frontman Jon Bon Jovi allegedly said:

When we got back together in a room in Vancouver, we closed the door and ignored what had happened to our genre of music. We’d been kicked in the teeth by Nirvana, but we didn’t pay attention to that. We got rid of the clichés, wrote some socially conscious lyrics and got a haircut. I didn’t do a grunge thing and I didn’t do a rap thing. But I knew I couldn’t re-write ‘Livin’ on a Prayer' again, so I didn’t try. And it paid off.

Certified 2x Platinum by RIAA, Keep the Faith debuted and peaked at #5 on the Billboard 200 chart. The album spammed six singles: “Keep the Faith”, “Bed of Roses”, “In These Arms”, “I’ll Sleep When I’m Dead”, “I Believe” and “Dry County”, the longest track ever recorded by the band.
