Nico, released in 1996, is a compilation of covers (The Pusher – Steppenwolf, John Sinclair – John Lennon) ,
alternate versions of previously released songs (No Rain, St Andrews Hall) ,
and for one reason or another, songs that were not released prior to lead singer Shannon Hoon’s cocaine overdose and death on October 21st 1995. The album was named by the remaining bandmates, after Hoon’s young daughter, Nico Blue, and all proceeds from the album were placed in a college fund for her.
