화양연화 (The Most Beautiful Moment In Life / In The Mode For Love / Hwa Yang Yeon Hwa) pt. 1

Released on April 24, 2015, this was a Mini-Album by BTS, the first of the “HYYH” Trilogy installment.

The release of this album ended the three-album school love trilogy and launched a brand new era. It was also in this album that they achieved their first win in a music program, with their song “I NEED U.”

The three album Trilogy was later completed by the release of “화양연화 The Most Beautiful Moment In Life Pt.2” and repackage “화양연화 The Most Beautiful Moment In Life: Young Forever”.

The release of the album was teased on April 5, 2016, as the group finalized their comeback date on April 25th, and it was revealed that all seven members participated in the production of the songs of this album. On April 17, an animated comeback trailer for lead rapper SUGA’s Intro: 화양연화 (The Most Beautiful Moment In Life), the intro track for the album was posted onto the group’s official YouTube Channel.

On April 19, the album name was teased, along with the first set of concept photos on the group’s official Facebook account. The second set of concept photos was teased on April 21st, and specific details of the album, including information about the 120-page photobook were released.

Dope was the follow-up, promotion track of this album, and its catchy tune and complicated choreography garnered BTS a lot of attention. The additional concept photos for the song were teased on June 14, along with the famous opening line of the song, “Welcome, first time with BTS?”

The album was an introduction to BTS as a group that continues to grow and develop. In each track are distilled poetic and pop emotions that allows the listener to sense both the soft and the resounding musical transformation of the group.

It was the start of one’s young adulthood in which beauty coexists with uncertainty.

The most beautiful moment in life pt.1 focuses on the uncertain future more than the glamour of youth. In addition, while previous lyrical work had been credited to the rappers (RM, SUGA and j-hope), the vocal members (Jin, Jimin, V, Jung Kook) have now added their names to the credits for this album’s producing and songwriting.
