About “Willy and the Poor Boys”

Willy and the Poor Boys is the fourth studio album of American rock band Creedence Clearwater Revival. It was released in November 1969 by Fantasy Records and includes some of their most famous songs like “Down on the Corner” and “Fortunate Son”. It also features covers and interpretations of old American folk songs like “The Midnight Special” and “Cotton Fields”.

Reception of the album was quite positive, and in 1970 it made the Top 50 in six countries. Today the record is certified platinum and 2x platinum, and this is made even more impressive by the fact that it was the third studio album the band had released that same year.
