Memento Mori Tracklist
Memento Mori is Depeche Mode’s 15th album, released on the 24th of March 2023.
The band announced its release in an October 2022 press conference in Berlin.
“Ghosts Again”, the first single of the album dropped on the 9th of February of the same year.

What have the artists said about the album?
Dave Gahan told magazine Rolling Stone in October 2022:
The direct translation [for ‘memento mori’] is, ‘Remember that you must die. A lot of the songs are going into that place of reminding ourselves that our time is fleeting, and you got to make the best of it — in a positive way.
Gore added:
I just thought, ‘What a great album title for the songs that had been written already.'

What have the artists said about the album?
Dave Gahan:
We could easily, if we wanted to, just go out and play the hits, but that’s not what we’re about.
Memento Mori—'remember that you must die'. The music really will outlive all of us.
Martin Gore:
It’s always a tough moment when you have to present your songs for the first time to Dave. I would’ve been presenting them to Andy as well, obviously. He passed away just days before I was about to send him the songs. And that’s one of the very sad parts about it, because he used to love getting the songs.
We actually recorded 16 songs for this album, and it was very difficult to choose the 12 that made it. That’s very unlike us, but we have four in the vault. It’s a very, very small vault. It’s like a thumb drive
Dave Gahan:
It’s music, and it’s art, and it’s something that is incredibly informing. Without it, I don’t know where I would be.
