Dolly Parton

About “Something Special”

Something Special is Dolly Parton’s thirty-fourth solo studio album released on August 22, 1995 on Columbia Records. The album peaked at #10 and #54 on the US Country Albums Charts and the Billboard respectively.

The album features three re-recordings of classic Dolly hits (“Jolene”, “I Will Always Love You, and "The Seeker”), in addition to seven new compositions. Parton’s duet with Vince Gill on “I Will Always Love You” reached #15 on the US Country Songs charts, making her the first person to chart in the top twenty with the same song three times (she previously charted at #1 with solo versions in 1974 and 1982). In addition to becoming a country hit, Parton and Gill’s collaboration won the Vocal Collaboration of the Year at the CMA Awards in 1996.
