About “For All The Dogs Scary Hours Edition”

For All The Dogs Scary Hours Edition (also known as Scary Hours 3) is the third installment of the Scary Hours series, following up March 2021’s Scary Hours 2, and serves as the deluxe version to Drake’s eighth studio album, For All The Dogs.

Following the release of Drake’s seventh studio album, Honestly, Nevermind, on June 17, 2022, during his TABLE FOR ONE radio show, Drake announced that he was working on the third installment of Scary Hours:

I got another Scary Hours pack coming too in a little bit. Maybe not right now. I need you to just take this in right now, but I have a Scary Hours. I’ma slap some headtops off with this Scary Hours pack.

Originally, the EP was supposed to be released after Honestly, Nevermind, however Drake decided to push back the EP to release Her Loss with 21 Savage and For All The Dogs.

After much anticipation, on November 16, 2023, Drake announced on social media that Scary Hours 3 would see an official release the next day. Shortly after Drake’s announcement, Kevin Durant posted a story on his Instagram page listing him as an Executive Producer on the project alongside Noel Cadastre and Drake himself.

Drake would then take to social media to reveal the cover art and tracklist hours before its official release. J. Cole serves as the sole feature for the deluxe.

Although Drake previously said he would take a break shortly after the release of For All The Dogs, this EP comes just weeks after the release of that album. Drake stated that he made those songs in the span of 5 days, and that none of the lyrics were written at the time For All The Dogs dropped, assuring fans the new tracks were not just throwaways from the album.

“For All The Dogs Scary Hours Edition” Q&A

  • Translations

  • What has Drake said about the EP?

I feel no need to appease anybody. I feel so confident about the body of work that I just dropped, I know I could go disappear for, whatever, six months, a year, two years—even though I’m not really into the super lengthy disappearances for the sake of mystery. But, you know, ultimately, it’s coming to me in a way that I haven’t experienced maybe since, like, If You’re Reading This, where I feel like I’m on drugs. I feel like I’m in that mental state without doing anything. I did those songs in the last five days. I didn’t have one bar written down for those songs on the night that For All the Dogs dropped. It’s not like I’m picking up from some unfinished shit. You know, this is just happening on its own. And who am I to fight it?
