Revenge of the Dreamers III is the long-awaited third compilation by J. Cole’s Dreamville Records; it is preceded by the original 2014 compilation and its 2015 follow-up.
The compilation is preceded by four lead singles, released in two batches: “Down Bad” and “Got Me,” which were both released on June 12th, 2019, and “Costa Rica” and “LamboTruck,” which were released four days prior to the album’s debut.
Unlike the previous compilations, Dreamers III includes numerous guest appearances from outside of the label. The album features 34 different artists and 27 producers out of the 343 individuals invited. The album was recorded in only 10 days.

In January 2019, Cole officially announced the album by posting an invitation to his social media that requested his presence and participation in the recording sessions for Revenge of the Dreamers III. These sessions were held in Atlanta, Georgia from January 6 to January 16, 2019.
Following Cole’s initial post, at least 75+ individuals were invited to the recording sessions, including Dreamville artists and producers, guest artists, guest producers, and business personnel.

Revenge of the Dreamers III debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200, moving 115,000 album equivalent units during the week of July 11, 2019.
Yes, the deluxe edition, titled Director’s Cut, was released on January 16, 2020, the one-year anniversary of the culmination of the ROTD3 recording sessions. It contains twelve new tracks.
