Radical Romantics

Radical Romantics is Fever Ray’s third album. Its production began in fall 2019 in the studio built with Karin’s brother and fellow The Knife member Olof Dreijer which co-wrote and co-produced four songs on the album, including the opener “What They Call Us”.

Fever Ray began signaling a new project in September 2022, when they archived all their social media posts and replaced all their profile pictures with a picture of a cinnamon bun (or kanelbulle as it’s called in Sweden).

The album has three singles released so far. The first “What They Call Us”, released with its music video on October 5th, 2022, the day after National Cinnamon Roll Day in Sweden. The second, “Cabon Dioxide” was released on November 10th, 2022, and alongside its release, the cover, track list and release date of the album were revealed. On January 24th, 2023, “Kandy” was released as the third single from Radical Romantics. It was accompanied by a clip where Karin embodies the exact appearance of the character on the cover. Longtime Fever Ray collaborator Martin Falck directed all of the era’s visuals, including the single covers and typography. However, the Karin Dreijer portrait used for the cover is a photograph by Nina Anderssson.
