RED & WHITE is Lil Uzi Vert’s third EP and the predecessor to their upcoming project, THE P!NK TAPE. The EP marks their first solo body of work since March 2020’s Eternal Atake (Deluxe) – LUV vs. The World 2.
Uzi announced the project and revealed its cover artwork via their Instagram on July 12, 2022.
The EP’s lead single “SPACE CADET” released on Uzi’s SoundCloud on July 16, 2022. The second promotional single “I KNOW” was released on SoundCloud just two days after. The third promotional single “FLEX UP” was released a day after.
The EP’s fourth and final promotional single “HITTIN MY SHOULDER” was released via SoundCloud on July 20, whilst the EP’s first single “SPACE CADET” became available on all streaming platforms.
Within the early hours of July 22, 2022, five more tracks were periodically released through Uzi’s SoundCloud and streaming platforms hours later. Once all nine tracks were released, Uzi confirmed the EP’s completion on Twitter:
Good night we did it !!! 💋 🫡 🛌
The following day, “CIGARETTE” was released on the streaming version of RED & WHITE in place of “BELIEVE ME” — likely due to a sample clearance issue.
RED & WHITE debuted at #23 on the Billboard 200 during the chart week ending of August 6, 2022.
Yes! On Lil Uzi Vert’s SoundCloud, the project’s tracklist is ordered differently in comparison to streaming services. On SoundCloud, where the EP originally made its debut, the tracks are ordered:
The track “SPACE CADET” is no longer available through Uzi’s SoundCloud page and therefore, is absent from the platform’s version of the EP. Likewise, the song “BELIEVE ME” is omitted from tracklists on streaming services for an unknown reason. However, it could possibly be due to a clearance issue with the Marilyn Manson track the song samples.
It is worth noting that the last track was originally titled “FINAL FANTASY” until it made its way onto streaming services and was abbreviated to “F.F.” This is likely because the Final Fantasy video-game franchise developed by Square Enix is a trademarked property, with the track’s title likely changed to avoid any copyright issues.
