FEAR (F*** Everyone And Run)

Marillion

About “FEAR (F*** Everyone And Run)”

Steve Hogarth: F E A R is our protest album. I met this man in Utrecht, Netherlands. Doctor,
healer, metaphysician and philosopher, Gisbert Ouwejan. “Happiness is the Road” was about him. He introduced me to the idea that all human motives stem from Love or Fear. He pointed out that Fear can be thought of as an acronym for Fuck Everyone and Run. The philosophy which rules most business, and, unfortunately just about everything in our history. These thoughts led to El Dorado and The New Kings. All the great Empires have been founded on the spoils of war, or slavery – literal slavery in the past, or more recently the exploitation of the weak or desperate through “business”. That’s capitalism.

We write by jamming and then honing the happy accidents and binning the rest. Nearly all the music was written in this random-then-distilled fashion and arranged for the most part by our producer Michael Hunter.
