Power, Corruption & Lies (US Cassette Version)

New Order

About “Power, Corruption & Lies (US Cassette Version)”

When Power, Corruption & Lies was released on cassette in the United States, a noticeable change was made to its tracklist: each half was now capped off by each of the two sides to New Order’s best-selling single “Blue Monday”. The change was made thanks to the single’s non-album status confounding UK buyers; according to popular legend, the matter was so big that Factory Records had to add a sticker to the album’s shrinkwrap clarifying that “Blue Monday” wasn’t on it. Because of this amendment, the album now clocks in at just under an hour in this configuration, compared to the 42.5-minute length of the LP release.

This tracklist would later be reused for Qwest Records' 1986 CD release of Power, Corruption & Lies, also in the United States.
