to hell with it is the debut mixtape from English singer, songwriter and record producer PinkPantheress, following her introduction into the music scene with a string of viral singles on the video-sharing social media platform TikTok. The project is released under Parlophone Records.
PinkPantheress first teased the release of her debut project in the official music video for the mixtape’s lead single, August 2021’s “Just for me.” The video ended with the teaser date “October 15th.” She released the follow-up single “I must apologise” on October 6, 2021.
There’s definitely a body of work on the way, so watch this space. There are a few things in between that I shan’t give away since you know that I am a lover of mystery. The project is a bit of a mixtape, more than an EP, but all I can say is that it’s coming out some time next month, and it’s a bit dark.
Eclectic? You can be the judge of that. But I hope to have the same amount of love for this record as I’ve gotten already at the start of my career. It’s been really nice to see everyone react this way to my music. I just hope that I’ve just created a moment.
Yes, she has! Alongside the release of her debut project, she has metaphorically come out of the shadows in terms of her largely anonymous persona and repuatation, revealing a lot more about herself and finally “putting a face to the music”.
She did a Spotify RADAR interview in which she spoke on her influences and early career, whilst also sticking with the mixtape’s aesthetic theme of horror as she visits a haunted house.
She was also interviewed on the radio in August 2021 by fellow British singer Charli XCX on BBC Radio 1, as well as online interviews in October 2021 with Anthony Fantano and Bone Soda.
“to hell with it” debuted at #59 on the Rolling Stone’s Top 200 Popular Albums Chart during the week ending October 21st, 2021. The album debuted at #20 on the Official UK Album charts.
Five of the project’s singles also landed on the UK Singles chart, with “I must apologise” at #85, “Break It Off” at #74, “Passion” at #73, “Pain” at #35 and “Just for me” at #27.
