Hollywood’s Bleeding

Post Malone

About “Hollywood’s Bleeding”

Hollywood’s Bleeding is the third studio album, and second to top the Billboard 200 charts, from Post Malone. This project is the follow-up to his sophomore album, beerbongs & bentleys, which was released on April 27, 2018.

On November 20, 2018, Post took to Twitter to share his hopes of releasing a project before the end of 2018, although this did not happen. As a result, he would later tweet his promise of releasing a song before the end of 2018, which he kept with the release of the album’s first single, “Wow.” on December 24, 2018. The second single, “Goodbyes,” was leaked months ahead of its release but was officially released to streaming services on July 5, 2019. On August 31, 2019, he teased the opening track of the album, while also confirming the number of tracks, via Instagram.

During his Bud Light Dive Bar Tour show in New York City on August 5, 2019, Post announced that his third album would be released in September of 2019. He also debuted the album’s third single, “Circles,” at that show. During his performance at Leeds festival in the UK on August 25, 2019, he announced that the album would be released on September 6, 2019. The album name and release date were confirmed by Dre London, Post’s manager, in an Instagram post the next day. “Circles” would officially release on August 30, 2019.

The tracklist, though incomplete at the time of its initial release (August 30, 2019), confirmed the number of tracks that would be on the album (17), along with the information that “Sunflower” would serve as one of the four songs to be released prior to the album’s release, joining “Wow,” “Goodbyes,” and “Circles.” On August 30, 2019, Post Malone shared a list of the artists who would be featured on the album on Twitter. He released the album’s full tracklist on Instagram on September 3, 2019.

“Hollywood’s Bleeding” Q&A

  • Album Translations

  • What has Post said about the album?

    Post Malone:

I’m not trying to make anything massive, I’m not trying to make hit records…It means a lot that if somebody is hundreds of thousands of miles away, they can sit and relate to the music. And they come up to me to say something like, ‘Hey, I don’t want a picture, I just wanted to say your song saved my life’…I want to do something weird and funky.

  • What's the inspiration behind the name of the album?

    Post Malone:

I finally made the move out of L.A. and I moved to Utah. And I feel like, in L.A. and Hollywood, there’s such a strange vibe to where it just feels like there’s a lot of vampires out there that just want to suck the life from you. And I kind of wanted to flip it right back onto there and say, you know what, the whole scene is fucked in itself. So it’s just like, you gotta get out and take a step back and look at the whole situation and you realize that Hollywood itself is kind of dying in itself because of all of the fucking blood-sucking vampires and shit. Pretty dark, but.

  • Does Hollywood’s Bleeding's announcement date hold any significance?

Both Post and his manager Dre London officially announced Hollywood’s Bleeding’s release date via Instagram on August 26 – and whilst this may just be a coincidence, the date has held significance since the beginning of Post’s career. The rapper’s debut studio album Stoney had an initial release date set for August 26th, 2016, but due to numerous issues – was pushed back to December 9th, 2016. Whilst the problems regarding Stoney’s release were cleared up, Post dropped a mixtape titled August 26th which was a reference to the original planned release date for Stoney.

  • How did this album perform on the Billboard charts?

Hollywood’s Bleeding debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200, marking Post’s second album to top the chart. The album opened with 489,000 equivalent album units earned in its first week of sales.

  • What other artists will be on the album?

On August 30, 2019, Post Malone confirmed the feature list on Twitter. The artists are Lil Baby, Da Baby, Travis Scott, Ozzy Osbourne, Meek Mill, Future, Halsey, SZA, Swae Lee, and Young Thug.

  • Did this album receive any certifications?

Hollywood’s Bleeding was certified 4x platinum by the RIAA on August 16, 2022.
