About “Dominion”

While Skillet has in recent years been accused of trying to “recreate Comatose," one their most successful albums to date, Dominion seems to break the mold that is the harsh critiques that Victorious, Unleashed and Rise endured. In the band’s 11th studio album, the world-famous Christian rock band finds a comprisable middle ground between the consistent style that fans love them for and the evolution of it as they grow artistically.

The full release of Dominion was promoted with four singles: “Surviving the Game,” “Standing in the Storm,” “Refuge” and the titular track, “Dominion.” Dominion was first teased in an interview at Lifest 2021 in Oshkosh, WI, which was held July 29-31, 2021 before its official announcement on September 15, 2021, alongside the single release of “Surviving the Game.” The album was originally slated for a November 19, 2021 release before a last-minute push to January 14, 2022.

Dominion contains every type of song that Panheads, the nickname of the band’s official fanbase, expect to find on a Skillet album. From the guitar-heavy hard rock of “Ignite” and anthem that is “Surviving the Game” to the written-for-Christian-airplay “Refuge” and ballad-like “Valley of Death,” paired with the themes of courage, perseverance and declaration of the Christian faith that the band is known for, Dominion guarantees something for fans on both sides of the spectrum.
