About “Angel Face”

Angel Face is a concept album which chronicles the life and times of the fictional Stephen Sanchez persona “The Troubadour Sanchez”—who finds fame based on his 1958 hit “Until I Found You”. But was tragically gunned down in 1964 after stealing the heart of a jealous mob boss’ ex-girlfriend as they planned to run away. Her name was “Evangeline”. However, his long lost debut has been unearthed 59 years later in the form of Angel Face.

The album tells its love story over its entire tracklist, which can be split into two: songs set in 1958 following the characters of “Stephen Sanchez & The Moon Crests” (his band) and “Georgia”; and those in 1964 about the love affair between “The Troubadour Sanchez” (who has since gone solo), “Evangeline”, and her mob-ex “Hunter”.

“Angel Face” Q&A

  • What has the artist said about this album?

When you hear Angel Face, I want you to enter a different world and different time. I hope it inspires you to enjoy your time with the one you love. I hope it evokes a response and you decide to tell this person, “I love you”. Love isn’t all flowers and daisies; it can be devastating and full of dirt. You have to get a shovel and dig up the dirt first before you grow the flowers. It’s okay to need and want somebody. The purpose of life is to find somebody to live with, create memories, and share them. When you hear this record, I hope you think of whoever this person is for you… or you dream of who this person could be (if you’re not in love already).
