Thanks to the massive potential and effort which led to receiving multiple accolades last year, the K-pop industry was able to see Stray Kids' growth as a group full of power and self-independence, which is shown in their sixth mini album, ODDINARY.
The title of the project is a blend between the words “odd” and “ordinary”, representing the concoction that people who live casual life also have different sides of themselves—something that Stray Kids might illustrate in its title track, “MANIAC”. Additionally, the release itself was announced on February 13, 2022 through a trailer played by the end of the group’s first offline fan-meeting, SKZ’s Chocolate Factory, leaving the viewers in shock. The extended play will feature over seven tracks, as well as three with brand new sub-units.
Seungmin shared during the ODDINARY press conference:
The album name puts together odd and ordinary. We all have an odd side to us even amid the ordinary, and we wanted to say that being odd is actually the ordinary.
