About “Direct Hits”

Direct Hits is a greatest hits compilation album by American group The Killers. It encapsulates a decade of releases, taking singles and hits from all four of the bands studio LPs.

The album also contains two previously unreleased singles – “Shot At The Night” and “Just Another Girl”. Other non-album tracks include the original demo of “Mr. Brightside” and the Calvin Harris remix of the 2005 hit single “When You Were Young”.

One strange inclusion in the tracklist is “Be Still”, an album track off the groups fourth LP Battle Born. Regarding this inclusion, Flowers said:

In this climate that we’re in, or whatever you want to call it, people pick and choose songs, and I think in the confusion of that process, they sometimes don’t know about certain songs. This is one that we’re very proud of and that we love, so we felt it would have more of a chance if we put it on the record.

In an interview with NME, frontman Brandon Flowers said the album “feels like a great way to clean everything up and move onto the next thing.”

The collection received favourable reviews, strangely eclipsing the critical successes of the original LPs themselves.
