Beacon (Deluxe Version)

Two Door Cinema Club

About “Beacon (Deluxe Version)”

In 2012, Two Door Cinema Club returned with its sophomore album, the Jacknife Lee-produced Beacon, squeezed in amongst months of relentless touring. It marked the band’s first number one record to date and cemented the band’s status.Generally well-received, the album hit the number one spot on the Irish album charts, and number two in the United Kingdom. It featured the two singles “Sleep Alone” and “Sun,” and preceded a short documentary about the band, entitled What We See, which followed the trio on tour during the summer of 2012.

About the Brixton Academy live record, the band’s performance sidesteps any apathy and they throw everything at the audience in terms of physicality. Trimble is not the most imposing of leads, but he has the sort of humble presence which comes alive with the onset of each song. Kevin Baird and Sam Halliday, either side of him, also add to the initiative, thrashing their guitars with a synchronised thrust of shoulders and heads.
