Can I Take My Hounds To Heaven?

Tyler Childers

About “Can I Take My Hounds To Heaven?”

Can I Take My Hounds To Heaven? is a gospel-oriented album from country and bluegrass artist, Tyler Childers. The album is split into three parts: Hallelujah, Jubilee, and Joyful Noise. Each part puts a different spin on the same eight tracks.

For the Hallelujah versions, each track was recorded live in one room by Childers and his touring band, The Food Stamps. The Jubilee versions have more built-up production that contains additional backing vocals and various instruments such as horn and string sections. Finally, the Joyful Noise versions are a set of remixes that include looped grooves, scattered beats, and sampled vocals used to offset the original compositions.

Can I Take My Hounds To Heaven? also contains covers of Hank Williams' song, “The Old Country Church”, and Jean Ritchie’s version of “Jubilee”. There is also a reworking of “Purgatory” – a song from Childers' 2017 album of the same name.
