38 Baby 2 is one of YoungBoy Never Broke Again’s most anticipated albums of his career. It’s a follow up to Still Flexin Still Steppin and a sequel to his 2016 project 38 Baby.
38 Baby 2 was first hinted to be coming soon in YoungBoy’s song, “Dropout,” where he raps:
(Uh, rock out) Yeah bitch, 38 Baby 2
YoungBoy originally said in an Instagram Live video that 38 Baby 2 would release once his friend and associate, D-DAWG, was released from prison.
D-DAWG was charged for assault on a fan at one of YoungBoy’s shows back in November 2018. He was supposed to serve 6 months in prison, however, a number of other charges showed up while serving his time.
YoungBoy once again hinted at the release of 38 Baby 2 on March 22, 2020, in a tweet responding to a fan:
Nearly a month later on April 20, 2020, YoungBoy released a teaser video for the album. Along with the teaser video was the official release date of April 24, 2020.
38 Baby 2 debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 during the chart week of May 9, 2020 after selling approximately 67,000 album-equivalent units during its first week.
