Realer 2 is YoungBoy Never Broke Again’s nineteenth mixtape, following his fourth studio album The Last Slimeto. The mixtape serves as a sequel to YoungBoy’s December 2018 mixtape, Realer. The mixtape features only one artist, Jazlyn MyChelle, the mother of YoungBoy’s child.
YoungBoy’s mother, Sherhonda Gaulden first teased the album’s spontaneous release via an Instagram story where she simply typed:
Realer 2 mixtape tonight
Prior to the release of a YouTube exclusive single titled “Purge Me,” YoungBoy proceeded to deactivate his Instagram account after its release.
DJ Akademiks confirmed the mixtape’s existence through Twitter:
Breaking: NBA Youngboy deactivates his Instagram page. I talked to him and asked why… He said ‘Realer 2’ is dropping tonight!!!!
Despite many fans speculating the existence of the mixtape after it didn’t release on the night of September 5, 2022, YoungBoy’s engineer Khris James confirmed via the Never Broke Again Discord server that there was a delay in the mixtape’s cover and tracklist, confirming its existence.
Continuing to tease the release, on the YouTube bio for “Opposite,” YoungBoy hinted the release of the mixtape:
Ha ha ……should I drop realer 2 tomorrow???
The album proceeded to be released exclusively on YoungBoy’s YouTube channel on September 6, 2022, at approximately 4 PM EST. The cover art and tracklist were both shown via the Never Broke Again, LLC Instagram.
