Robert “Shotgun” Johnson (b. 1953) was the drummer for the funk-disco band KC and the Sunshine Band, joining the group while working as a studio musician at TK Records in Hialeah, Florida. Robert—or “Shotgun” as he was called to avoid confusion with the other, more well-known Robert Johnson—was responsible for the band’s overall drum sound, performing on many of their biggest hits. Robert passed away from cancer in 1983.
