Looking for female pop/rock artists to get into

I’m a hip-hop head, but I like some occasional pop music. And I’m not usually a fan of male artists/bands but I’m surprised every once in a while like Years and Years.

So can you guy recommend me some female bands/artist’s that I can get into.

Who I listen to in the past few years:
Tove Lo – Queen Of the Clouds
Taylor Swift – 1989 (I don’t like Red or Country Taylor though)
Lorde – Pure Heroine
Zella Day – Kicker
Florence and the Machine – How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful
Purity Ring – Another Eternity
Chvrches – The Bones of What You Believe

Some people I’ve checked out and liked their EP’s:
Melanie Martinez
Halsey
Ryn Weaver

@ScopeY

I’ve checked out Alessia Cara, Odessa, Bea Miller, and Phoebe Ryan and liked them.

Charli XCX I don’t really like, and I can’t mess with Tori Kelly.

I’ll definitely check out the others. Any songs you’d mention to go along?

Some other things with female vocalists I also recommend:

Purity Ring – Shrines

If you liked Another Eternity you are probably gonna like their debut album

Song you should check out:

Purity Ring – Fineshrine

London Grammar – If You Wait

Dope band with a dope sound and a really dope Kavinsky cover

I would honestly check out Miley’s “Bangerz” album. It’s got some great tracks on it. “Love Money Party (feat. Big Sean),” “Maybe You’re Right,” and “Rooting For My Baby” are all great songs to give a listen to from it.

Nadia Oh’s 2011 album “Colours” is amazing. It’s moombahton/pop.

Other Albums:
Hilary Duff – “Breathe In, Breathe Out” (2015)
Lily Allen – “Sheezus” (2014)
Cheryl – “Only Human” (2014)
Young Summer – “Siren”(2014)
Nicola Roberts – “Cinderella Eyes” (2011)

Singles:
Nadia Oh – “Slapper (Ayye)” (2012)

Samantha Jade – “Sweet Talk” (2014)

The user turnout on this thread is woah…I will give this discussion a blanket cosign.

Good thing I know a few more female pop vocalists (or acts with female vocalists), along with one of their standout tracks. These are the ones that haven’t been mentioned yet:

Highly recommend:

  • MS MR: The most F+TMish of the list. Electro-baroque with macabre lyrics, although their sophomore record is more sleek pop. – Fantasy
  • Elliphant: Scandinavian artist with a reggae inflection. Associated with Major Lazer and MO. – One More
  • Susanne Sundfør: Another F+TMish artist whose Scandinavian. More orchestral electro pop. – Fade Away
  • Marian Hill: Minimalist electro-R&B that’s sexy. – Lips
  • Kate Boy: Lyrics are rough, but their production’s lovely. – Northern Lights
  • Kerli: Started with macabre pop, did a straight electro-pop album, and now she’s in label limbo. – Walking On Air
  • MO been mentioned yet? Yet another Scandinavian singer. Best known for her feature in recent Major Lazer hit “Lean On”, but her debut album’s sublime.

(If you want male singers that are up Florence and the Machine’s alley: Sir Sly and Glass Animals. Both are on my 2014 AOTY list, and I did a write-up for the latter for Rock Genius' ranking.)

More rock female singers:

…I got to stop before I go through my entire Spotify library.

Tell me if I should elaborate on any of these.
