Lukas Graham - Live Annotation Event

Sup Pop Genius!

Lukas Graham will be stopping by Genius LA at 10:30 am PST / 1:30 pm EST to annotate some of his top tracks, read scholar annotations, cosign (!), and generally get down with Genius. Be sure to follow @lukasgraham and check back in tomorrow while Lukas is on site.

In case you don’t already know…

Lukas is one of Europe’s hottest artists, with the insanely viral song, “7 Years,,” which has been trending on Spotify and Genius since October. The “7 Years” Genius songpage has already has 12 contributors, and lots of great annotation, and anyone who wants to get a crack at the page before Lukas himself does… NOW is the time!

As @ImLU, @melballe, and @jjk01 co-authored on Lukas' artist page, he and his band play “a mix of Soul, funk and hip-hop,” which Lukas, the eponymous leadsinger, describes as “ghetto-pop.”

cc top Lukas Graham scholars: @DaveHowell, @Mister305, @TheScrivener, @Tjobber, @SheikDazzle, @tobberman, @AlterEgo187, @MusicNeverStops

cc top “7 Years” scholars: @LEMON, @ShabanaHaydar, @Lxunablr, @DeeJayz, @DeSch,

(NB: many of the scholars above are both top artist and top song scholars, in which case I’ve only listed their names in one category.)

+please post in this thread if you have any questions, comments, or thoughts for Lukas!

Cool, cool! I’ll look into this. Already deleted three pressburg duplicates.. ugh, I do not like that “guy” ;-(

This is exciting!!

What does everyone think—would it be helpful if I posted a rough schedule for tomorrow (like a songpage order or something) so that it’s clear approx. what time Lukas will be on each page? Or do we prefer to let him organically move through his tracks?

December 8th, 2015

You should post what you (ideally) would want him to cover. Then us annotators can use that as a guideline for what to look into first.

@melballe – I’ll ask @LukasGraham to post in this forum thread when he is about to start, which will give everyone a solid heads up. The post will include a loose itinerary of what he’d like to cover. That way you and everyone else will have a good idea of where we are, and can following along, songpage to songpage. I’ll encourage Lukas to wait and do “7 Years” later in the session, because I’ve found that it often takes artists a song or two to really get into their annotations, and we want to be sure he’s warmed up when he gets to that page. Sound good?

hey – this is Lukas. We’re gonna annotate some of our songs! Here’s the order:

We will start with “Happy Home.” Since it was the first of the songs we finished/knew was definitely on the record. Then we’ll “7 Years,” because it’s an unusual pop song—and I see a lot of you have already given it your best! Next is “Hayo,” one of our more fun and frivolous songs. Second to last we’ll do “Strip No More,” Ramsey’s favorite (Ramsey works at Warner ;). Last up is “Mama Said,” the second song that is open to the whole world, after “7 Years.”

OMG HI LUKAS

Lukas just left the building! He got through three of his top songs—and was so into Genius, he plans to use the site on the plane later. Many co-sings on “7 Years” and “Happy Home,” and a few eloquent annotations on “Mama Said.

Plus…

He annotated a Tu Pac classic:

This song is such a good way of conveying how it’s still possible to have a positive on life, even when your every option is a dead-end street.

Damn, the spirit of Tu Pac lives on.

Heard “7 Years” for the first time about a week ago and I LOVE it. Definitely check Lukas' music and annotations out if you haven’t yet!
