Songs with dope guitar solo's/breakdown?

I was just listening to MMJ-Lay Low and the last 3 minutes of the song blew me away. Is there other good song that have epic solos that you guys can recommend? Im mostly a hip hop/rnb head and just starting to really get into rock and other genres.

Lately i can’t get over the last minute and a half of Deerhunter’s “Nothing Ever Happened”. It’s certainly not your father’s guitar solo. Cox’s psychadelic experimentation on the guitar is one of a kind…Here’s the whole song, but the build up starts just before the 4 minute mark:

Ooh this is a great topic. I’ll recommend a song from the band Television who I lovingly refer to as the first “indie rock” band. Their landmark album Marquee Moon is filled with sparse, melodic, structured anti-pop and it still sounds like indie rock groups today are trying to reach its pinnacle, and it came out in 1977. I’m putting the title track here. Over ten minutes, it has excellent guitar work and so much environment is provided by so few instruments and so little production. The solo in the second half is so epic, it’s almost emotionally draining. It’s a great introduction to indie rock.

Great call @JHGFD! “Marquee Moon” is incredible….My favorite part about it, is playing it on a jukebox…at 11 minutes, you really get bang for your buck! :-)

@JHGFD my favorite part of that song is that they only did one take, which the producer thought was a rehearsal. Incredible that they could jam for 10 minutes perfectly like that.

Just added Benny’s tidbit onto the song info of the “Marquee Moon” page:

:-) The annotations themselves could use some love too….It was kinda half-assed. Not many pics, etc…check it out.

That’s a really amazing tidbit! I wonder if the suggestion helped the OP at all… I also love “Maggot Brain” and it’s great that the hair of the woman on the album cover matches the hair of the Television drummer.

Definitely! Im checking out all these bands albums as we speak. That Television band really caught my attention
