BLENDER Lyrics

[Verse 1: Luke]
Is it lonely where you are?
All the way across the room
With a knife inside your heart
I feel it, too, mm
Is it just the way we are?
Always burnin' through the roof
Oh, I guess only the stars would know the truth, mm

[Pre-Chorus: Luke, Calum]
I'd die for you, I'd die for you, I'd die for you (For you)
I tried for you, I tried for you, I tried
But all I hear is

[Chorus: Luke]
All the things you said in my head
Ricochetin' off the bed
Nothin' left, what a mess
Oh my god, it never ends
Now we're stressed and depressed
And we're goin' 'round again
In an еmotional blender
All the things you said in my hеad
Ricochetin' off the bed
Nothin' left, what a mess
Oh my god, it never ends
Now we're stressed and depressed
And we're goin' 'round again
In an emotional blender
[Verse 2: Luke, Luke & Calum]
But we just can't keep away
When you know me like you do
It's supernatural, got me howlin' at the moon

[Pre-Chorus: Luke, Calum]
I'd die for you, I'd die for you, I'd die for you (For you)
I tried for you, I tried for you, I tried
But all I hear is

[Chorus: Luke]
All the things you said in my head
Ricochetin' off the bed
Nothin' left, what a mess
Oh my god, it never ends
Now we're stressed and depressed
And we're goin' 'round again
In an emotional blender
All the things you said in my head
Ricochetin' off the bed
Nothin' left, what a mess
Oh my god, it never ends
Now we're stressed and depressed
And we're goin' 'round again
In an emotional blender
[Bridge: Luke]
Oh, oh-oh
Oh, ah-ah-ah-ah
Oh-oh-oh, oh-oh
Oh, ah-ah-ah-ah

[Outro: Luke]
All the things I said in my head
Ricochetin' off the bed
Nothin' left, what a mess
Oh my god, it never ends
Now we're stressed and depressed
And we're goin' 'round again
In an emotional blender

What did 5 Seconds of Summer say about "BLENDER"?
Genius Answer

“BLENDER” was made toward the end of the album process. It was one of those feelings of going in for something specific and we got exactly what we wanted, and that’s not always the case. This was the first time working with Peter Thomas and Jake Torrey. So thankful to Pete for writing this bassline, but playing it and singing it takes it to another level. This song feels closer to Youngblood and CALM and I think it really carries that over to 5SOS5.

What is the inspiration behind the song?
Genius Answer

I think the inspiration behind that song is to capture the in-betweens of what it is to be like in a relationship that can have a negative personal effect on you, and how, over time, you can have a reflection on that, in which can really affect your own state of mind and how you carry out your own life, and how it can almost leave an everlasting impression on you and have more of an influence on you, in which, emotionally, it shouldn’t. And that’s just reflecting on those moments.
