“Good Girls” is the fourth single from 5 Seconds Of Summer’s eponymous debut album.
Due to strong digital download sales, it peaked at #34 on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming one of five top-forty hits for 5SOS. However, its highest peak was in Ireland, where it reached #12.
In a track-by-track interview the band stated:
“Good Girls” has an extended title which is “Good Girls Are Bad Girls That Haven’t Been Caught”. It’s one of the first songs we wrote with Roy Stride from Scouting For Girls.

Michael: So the song “Good Girls” is, it has an extended title called, “Good Girls Are Bad Girls That Haven’t Been Caught.” It was one of the first songs me and Ashton wrote, we wrote it with a guy called Roy Stride, he’s from Scouting For Girls. We wrote it with him, a guy called Josh Wilkinson, and a guy called George Tizzard, and Rick Parkhouse. Roy came to us with the lyric, “Good girls are bad girls that haven’t been caught” and at first, it didn’t strike to me.
Ashton: It didn’t strike him, I was like, “Roy, you’re a genius.”
Michael: Thought about it for a bit and I was like, “Holy crap, that’s amazing.”
Calum: You know what, the song’s good but the day before, I was like, “I have this lyric, "Good girls are bad girls that haven’t been caught”."
Ashton: And they rejected it.
Calum: And Luke and I were like, “You know what, this lyric suits Ashton and Michael’s writing particularly.” So, I think we should be credited.
