Talk Fast Lyrics

[Intro]
(Talk fast)
(Talk fast)

[Verse 1: Luke]
I don't wanna think about a moment with you
I'm kinda hopin' for forever
I've been dreaming 'bout a knitted sweater for two
Goddamnit, we look good together

[Pre-Chorus: Calum, Luke]
Would you wait a moment?
They're ringing the bell for last call
Would you wait a moment?
Just give me a second, that's all

[Chorus: All]
Oh-oh, talk fast, romance
Oh-oh, it won't last, I'm okay with that
Oh-oh, burn, crash, romance
Oh-oh, I'll take what I can get from you
Talk fast, romance
Oh-oh, it won't last, I'm okay with that
Oh-oh, burn, crash, romance
Oh-oh, I'll take what I can get from you
[Verse 2: Calum]
Leave all of your indecisions with you at home
Don't say you're doin' me a favour
Why so complicated, won't you throw me a bone?
I want your love in every flavor

[Pre-Chorus: Calum]
Would you wait a moment?
They're ringing the bell for last call
Would you wait a moment?
Just give me a second, that's all

[Chorus: All]
Oh-oh, talk fast, romance
Oh-oh, it won't last, I'm okay with that
Oh-oh, burn, crash, romance
Oh-oh, I'll take what I can get from you
Talk fast, romance
Oh-oh, it won't last, I'm okay with that
Oh-oh, burn, crash, romance
Oh-oh, I'll take what I can get from you

[Bridge: Luke, Calum]
Oh-oh, oh-oh, ringing the bell for last call
Oh-oh, oh-oh, ringing the bell for last call
Oh-oh, oh-oh, ringing the bell for last call
(Talk fast, ah-ah, won't last)
Oh-oh, oh-oh, ringing the bell for last call
(Burn, crash, ah-ah, talk fast)
[Breakdown: Luke]
Talk fast, romance

[Chorus: All, Calum]
Oh-oh, talk fast, romance (Ah-ah)
Oh-oh, it won't last, I'm okay with that (Ah-ah)

From their Cocktail Chats (Episode 3):

Calum:

What does “Talk Fast” make me think about? It makes me think of the colors blue. That’s the funny thing ‘bout “Talk Fast”, is that it played a pivotal part in establishing the third album’s overall aesthetic. I remember Justin looking into my eyes and singing that guitar line at me, “Talk fast, romance,” the genius he is.

Ashton:

“Talk Fast” in a weird way, modernized the band even though it encapsulates ‘80s musicality. It uses parts of programming and stuff that we haven’t used before in our music. I think I love the mood of this song and I love the guitar parts, it reminds me of Phil Collins.

Michael:

We finished up writing “Talk Fast” and in the studio I was like, “Shit, this song is super cool and super vibey.” And we finished it and I was like, “Is this song a little too ‘80s revival?” It took to the point where we were rehearsing for the tour and when we started to rehearse it to play it live, that’s when it was it completely made 100% sense to me. “Talk Fast” is sick, I like the little guitar part I get to play.

Luke:

It relates back to our nightlife at the time, very ‘80s night ridery. We were going out a lot at the time, having a good time. I remember quite vividly, Carl Falk, he had the “doo doo doo” and I remember we were all singing to that.
