Reviewed in the Danish journal Gaffa under the heading 'Ambitious and Surprisingly Successful Concept Album', it was awarded an impressive four stars.
The moods characterizing Fighting with Cliché Demons varied from minimalistic noise rock to grandiose, pompous harmony. From the soothing to the manic. There was a deeper layer of meaning in everything - in the text, the music, the cover art and the bands deeply felt and personal way of expressing its attitudes was both surprising and provocative. And this is how it still is! But after a year of being immersed in melancholy, Song to the Siren has arisen with renewed energy. The tracks on the band's new ep, A Machine Like Me, are marked by energy and dynamism. The tempo has been stepped up, and the music generally has become catchier and more easily accessible. This new style has led to, among other things, airplay on the national Danish radio and high-profile rotation on their netradio.
Above all, Song to the Siren has always been a live band, and a concert with the band must be described as a total experience for ears, eyes and mind! When Song to the Siren moves from the calm, beautiful and dreamy to the highly manic, aggressive, and outrageously confrontational, it is a captivating, intensely honest and genuine 'act' of controlled madness.
In March 2008, Song to the Siren will be releasing the dvd Live@Loppen, recorded in connection with the release of A Machine Like Me. Furthermore, the band has gone into collaboration with a Norwegian booking agent, which will probably result in a Scandinavian tour in the spring. At present, the band is working on a follow-up to Fighting with Cliché Demons - an album expected to hit the streets at the end of the year.
