Oxford
Oxford Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

You're no good for me
Baby, you're no good for me
You're no good for me
But baby, I want you, I want
Diet mountain dew, baby, New York City
Never was there ever a girl so pretty
Do you think we'll be in love forever?
Do you think we'll be in love?
Diet mountain dew, baby, New York City
Can we hit it now low down and gritty?
Do you think we'll be in love forever?
Do you think we'll be in love?
Baby, put on heart shaped sunglasses
'Cause we gonna take a ride
I'm not gonna listen to what the past says
I've been waiting up all night
Take another drag turn me to ashes
Ready for another lie?
Says he's gonna teach me just what fast is
Say it's gonna be alright
Diet mountain dew, baby, New York City
Never was there ever a girl so pretty
Do you think we'll be in love forever?
Do you think we'll be in love?
Diet mountain dew, baby, New York City
Can we hit it now low down and gritty
Do you think we'll be in love forever?
Do you think we'll be in love?
Let's take Jesus off the dashboard
Got enough on his mind
We both know just what we're here for
Saved too many times
Maybe I like this roller coaster
Maybe it keeps me high
Maybe the speed it brings me closer
I could sparkle up your eye
Diet mountain dew, baby, New York City
Never was there ever a girl so pretty
Do you think we'll be in love forever?
Do you think we'll be in love?
Diet mountain dew, baby, New York City
Can we hit it now low down and gritty?
Do you think we'll be in love forever?
Do you think we'll be in love?
You're no good for me
Baby, you're no good for me
You're no good for me
But baby, I want you, I want you
You're no good for me
Baby, you're no good for me
You're no good for me
But baby, I want you, I want you, I want you
Diet mountain dew, baby, New York City
Never was there ever a girl so pretty
Do you think we'll be in love forever?
Do you think we'll be in love?
Baby, stoppin' at Seven Eleven
There in his white Pontiac heaven
Do you think we'll be in love forever?
Do you think we'll be in love?
Diet mountain dew, baby, New York City
Never was there ever a girl so pretty
Do you think we'll be in love forever?
Do you think we'll be in love?
Diet mountain dew, baby, New York City
Can we hit it now low down and gritty?
Do you think we'll be in love forever?
Do you think we'll be in love?
You're no good for me
Baby, you're no good for me
You're no good for me
But baby, I want you, I want
You're no good for me
Baby, you're no good for me
You're no good for me
But baby, I want you, I want
You're no good for me
Baby, you're no good for me

You're no good for me
But baby, I want you, I want

Overall Meaning

Oxford's song "Oxford" delves into complex emotions and desires, highlighting the internal struggle between attraction and rationality. The opening lines of the song set the stage for the turmoil that follows: "You're no good for me, baby, you're no good for me. You're no good for me, but baby, I want you, I want." The lyrics of the song paint a picture of the singer in a state of hopeless infatuation with a person who is not good for them, and yet they cannot resist their attraction.

As the song progresses, the singer seems to be seeking validation for their feelings, asking, "Do you think we'll be in love forever?" and "Can we hit it now low down and gritty?" These questions reflect a desire for something deeper and more meaningful, despite the obvious warning signs that their partner is not the right fit for them. The lyrics also take on a religious undertone, with references to Jesus on the dashboard and being "saved too many times," indicating a struggle between morality and lust.

Overall, Oxford's song "Oxford" is a powerful exploration of human desire and the inner conflict that arises when faced with a potential love interest who is not good for us. The song is both honest and vulnerable, showcasing the complexity of human emotion and the ways in which our desires can override our better judgment.

Discover this track just by accident in Oct 2015 and just fell for it. Can't help to think about chilling on a beach in Goa, layed back on a deck chair whilst the sun begins to turn red & starts to set. This is what I call a proper chill out tune where you can just zone out and time & space doesn't exist. Amazing tune

I've been kind of depressed and stressed out lately. Sheepy's music is the only thing that calms me down and clears my mind. Thank you MrSuicideSheep.

@BanzaMusic

All these years later, still beautiful.
