Live What I Know
Hayley Anderson Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

More than just words that I read on a page
More than just phrases I've learned
More than the lessons and leader's suggestions
More than awards I have earned
So much deeper than all of these things
Truths that determine the woman I'm striving to be

This is the moment I'm finding my voice
'Cause I know what I really believe
I understand and I know who I am
I've been given the truths that I need
With every decision, my faith's gonna grow
And I want my actions to show
That I'm gonna live what I know

Not just ideas I stand and repeat
Not just a verse or a phrase
A flickering fire, then a burning desire
That grows with each promise I make
Sacred devotion that's anchored inside
A flame that will burn for the rest of my life

This is the moment I'm finding my voice
'Cause I know what I really believe
I understand and I know who I am
I've been given the truths that I need
With every decision, my faith's gonna grow
And I want my actions to show
That I'm gonna live what I know

This is the moment I'm finding my voice
'Cause I know what I really believe
I understand and I know who I am
I've been given the truths that I need
With every decision, my faith's gonna grow
And I want my actions to show

That I'm gonna live what I know
I'm gonna live what I know

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Hayley Anderson's song "Live What I Know" captures the essence of one's personal belief system and the need to put them into action. Anderson highlights how our faith and values go beyond mere words and ideas we read on a page or learn from leaders. Instead, they are truths that define our characters and influence our daily choices.

In the first verse, Anderson recognizes that she has gone beyond the stage of merely accumulating awards or accolades, and more towards building her character. She emphasizes that it is the deeper truths that will determine the kind of woman she eventually becomes, and not just the surface-level achievements.

The chorus emphasizes her resolve to live her faith and values. She recognizes that her faith will grow with every decision she makes, and she wants her actions to prove that she is true to her beliefs. Anderson sees herself as a voice, stepping up to defend her values and beliefs in a world where opinions fluctuate. She understands what she truly believes, and she is willing to live that belief system every day.

The second verse reinforces what Anderson sees as the need to put one's faith into action. She explains that it is not enough to recite verses and phrases without a burning desire that comes with them. Instead, there must be a sacred devotion that anchors one's beliefs and actions. The final chorus reiterates Anderson's resolution to live what she knows.

In conclusion, "Live What I Know" is a song that encourages individuals to build a belief system that helps define their characters and influence their choices. It emphasizes the importance of faith and putting one's belief system into practice.

Love?
She didnt even see what was happening in him and you call it love?

But yes, its most often the people closest. Be glad it is.
If it wasnt so, that would mean there would be a LOT of random killers, probably serial killers too.
Since the people closest to us have a vested interest in us and things can go bad, its only logical it is the people closest to us.
YOu sure dont want it any other way.

Its also up to one self often, who those people are that are close to us. So it pays off to choose wisely and not f around with everyone.

@Doreen Kucek ...I think that you have to consider that he's probably both Catholic and Latino and what that means. If she broke up with him then she didn't just "break his heart". She took his manhood, in the eyes of his family and friends.

If your ex slashes your tires, displays violent behaviors, stalks you, etc..press charges, speak up, run. Do not let them back in.

Exactly

@Beastmode-zx9gm

And when they threaten to off themselves let them. Better them then you. 🤷‍♀️💁‍♂️

@FreeSpirit47

This is so true! I moved far away to deter an abusive, hyper controlling ex. He still tried. Even 10 years after I moved away, he was still trying occasionally. It was a smart move to at least put geographic distance from him in place.
