I drove one of the Semi trucks on the tour, Sarah is such a cool person. She came to check on us often to make sure we were good. At the end she paid us a great U$ bonus which helped my wife and I to purchase our first house. This tour was a great time, I spent the whole summer with my awesome wife driving around America and Canada!!!!

THE BEST event I ever attended in my life…. And the best time line in my life as well… So many incredibly talented voices in one place. Never have I seen or will ever see again.. By far, the event that changed my life and passion for music than any other time in my life. It’s what gave me the desire to follow my dreams in music as a vocalist.. and it’s what gave me the balls (metaphorically of course ha!) to pursue it as a career.. and I met the father of my children in that career.. Kids today just don’t get music like this, and it’s really sad..

This was such a special time in the world right at the forefront of the future. i went to three liliths with my friends (denver, phoenix or tucson?, albuquerque)!! sarah m & lilith fair were bashed hard by the media and in general and we were bummed about that for sure, but we wanted to show up and be part of it even more because of the backlash. a lot of us were out (LGBT) before degeneres was on tele and were little warriors. we already had superpowers to block out ugly responses and to enjoy our lives. a lot of us had to block out hate as often as we brushed our teeth. that sh*t would not fly today on the internet, good Lord. i am so happy about this upload! thank you so much!

I have recently had an experience on YouTube I discovered The Indigo Girls who absolutely took my breath away one of the songs is ‘Water is wide’ the line-up in this song included Jewel whom was vaguely known to me, when I was first aware of Sarah McLachlan her voice is the voice of all voices, the way it rises and falls very attractively this was my mind-blowing moment. Since that moment I have gone onto Lilith Fair, viewing the video is a source of the admiration for all the Artistes in the full Lilith Fair presentation. Thank-you Sarah

That version of "the water is wide" was fantastic! Dear God. Imagine that we may never have a golden time of music like this ever again. You'd have to be there, and I wish I was but seeing this video, makes me feel like I am still a part of it as the vibes from these amazing women/audience still persist through the times.

She is one of my favorite vocalist I’ve ever heard.. “Angel” was one of the first songs I ever recorded with late husband.. I still, to this day, can’t sing it without being a sloppy mess because of that. And he’s been gone now since May of 2018… My love, my heart, my best friend and love of my life….❤️

Was at the Pasadena show outdoors at the Rose Bowl (‘98?)— with my wife — my idea! as I recall, Sheryl Crow couldn’t be there (which was a bummer) but we got bonused to be able see and hear the angelic voice of “Special Guest,” Sinead O’Connor. all the voices soared; goosebumps. amazing talent; Sarah, Indigo Girls, Paula, Shawn, Jewel, Lisa, Joan, Tracey, Erykah, Paula, Suzanne! absolutely fantastic — probably missing a few… Bonnie? such an epic event. the best concert I ever attended and I’ve attended a LOT of shows in my 62+ years! a moment in time with the rockin’ girls of Lilith!

This takes me back! I went to the Lilith Fair the first year they had it, in Philadelphia, so the lineup was different-Fiona Apple, Joan Osbourne, Victoria Williams, Tracy Chapman, Sarah ofc, & I think there was more but I don't remember who. Such a fantastic concert!

Back in the 70's; there was a category called Womyn's music. They also had a couple of concerts with women artists of the time. I lived too far away to go to any of these concerts, plus I was too young to see them in concert. But one of the best albums I ever picked up was called "Michigan Live". It was great. Everything from solo acts to women groups. So I am happy that this type of concert is still going on.

August 9th 1997 Tinley Park, IL. Who was there: Sarah McLachlan, Emmylou Harris, Indigo Girls, Lisa Loeb, Jewel. Everything about the concert was great! Every musician alone and together was terrific. I was on the lawn which is the best area because you can stretch out, sit down, lay down, or get up and dance. A perfect August night: warm during the day and when the sun went down cool not cold. Nothing but endless stars in a clear sky and wonderful music for hours.

I remember going to one when it came to Portland with my sister. It was her first show ever I took her to it and it was such great show. The energy, the vibe, the sound, it was just nothing but positivity coming from everywhere. Seriously we still talk about it to this day how much fun we had.

1997 was one of the most broken hearted years of my life and my grlfriends were desperate to inject some fun into my life, so I asked if they wanted to go to Lilith Faire? Next thing I knew our group of 3 turned into a group of 10-12. I had devised a way to bring in a ton of margaritas so we were totally good the entire day & night. I saw the most gorgeous sweetheart I went to high school with walking by us and yelled out (I kid u not) Joe Ripp & waved and he ran, dove & slid in front of me/my grlfds “what’s happening hot stuff!” They cheered, coo’d & ahh’d as I asked him why he was there??? He said “any Dude that doesn’t take advantage of the grl to guy ratio are total dummies”.
It truly was a “I
AM Woman hear me roar” moment for me, I cheered, I wept, I let go……
After that concert I decided to stop crying over this broken heart and started to build the life I wanted for me.
Totally empowering day and when I need a little reminder of my strength or just a boost, I go to my Lilith Faire 97 play list and remember who I am!
Wld go again in a heartbeat if they ever had another Lilith Faire concert & I’d bring my feminist sons!

My wife needed to learn this song for a performance at a dulcimer music festival. I'm a guitarist but neither of us had ever heard the song before. I pulled up this video and was absolutely stunned. I've played it at least 100 times since and it sends chills down my spine every single time. My favorite You Tube video of all time (and my own band has 13 videos on this site).

I have seen Lilith Fair 3 times now, 2 times back in the 90s and then in the 2000s when they tried to do a revival. There was nothing like this festival, it had the best energy. I feel like if it was tried to be done today it would just be such a different experience.
