Some Things You Don't Forget
Jason Aldean Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

She ain't nothing like the bourbon in my blood
Gets me high for a little while and then it's over
She ain't one of those move-on Mondays
Back to normal, nothing weighin' on you

Wish I could leave it all behind me
Without ever looking back
Well, she's a buzz that still runs through my head
And goodbye don't come easy
With a girl like that
I swear, sometimes, I wish we'd never met
Yeah, 'cause some things you don't forget

That boardwalk neon blue shining on her lips
I still can taste that sweet Malibu on her
That wild in her eyes, laid me down by the water
That summer-night high tide washing up on us

Wish I could leave it all behind me
Without ever looking back
Well, she's a buzz that still runs through my head
And goodbye don't come easy
With a girl like that
I swear, sometimes, I wish we'd never met
Yeah, 'cause some things you don't forget

She's a buzz that still runs through my head
No, I can't forget
No, I can't forget
I still can taste that sweet

Wish I could leave it all behind me
Without ever looking back
Oh, she's a buzz that still runs through my head
And goodbye don't come easy
With a girl like that

Oh, I swear, sometimes, I wish we'd never met
Yeah, 'cause some things you don't forget

Overall Meaning

In "Some Things You Don't Forget", Jason Aldean sings about a woman who has left a lasting impact on his life. He compares her to the bourbon in his blood that gets him high for a little while and then it's over. He then goes on to say that she's not like the typical Monday morning where one can move on and feel normal again. The memory of her lingers in his head and it's not easy to say goodbye to someone like her. He recalls the moments spent with her on a boardwalk, the taste of Malibu on her lips, and the wildness in her eyes that left him spellbound. The song concludes with the artist stating that he wishes he could leave her behind, but some things you just can't forget.

The song captures the essence of a bittersweet love affair that one cannot get over easily. It highlights the intensity of emotions that one can experience when in love, and how it can be hard to move on from someone who has left a mark on your life. The lyrics paint a vivid picture of the moments and sensations that the artist shared with his lover, which makes the song relatable to listeners who have experienced similar situations.

I hope it is . I left mine way too early I was stubborn spoiled and oh so home sick .

I had it all but needed my family I wanted them bear while our first child was being raised

Looking back all these years later GOD he was such a good man ! Doubtful I’ll ever find another man such as he !

I’ll always love him we had forbidden love and went against our families to be together later they accepted it and we had a second huge wedding for them .

If you love them STAY

I disdained country music most of my life though my fam was crazy about it

Took my mom to a Reba concert as a surprise long ago and I thought I’d rather die

But this is the best music I jam out to it all day long

I was closing on my home and your Rearview Town came on my YouTube and I’ve been hooked for three years and can’t believe I missed all you and other greats like Whiskey Myers Stapleton And Whalen to name a few

The guitar in this is 🔥🔥🔥

This song is a powerful song to me! Jason aldeans music helped me through some really hard times in my life after finally being able to break free from a narcassist that robbed me 10yrs of my life Ive been away from him for 4years and I can honestly say I'm so freaking glad I did! I have lots of scars but I'm getting better each day! He then died of a drug overdose Aug 6 2022 and I can honestly say I feel like I can finally breathe
