Hold On I'm Coming
John Farnham & Tom Jones Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I'm coming home to your loving heart
Till the one that I was
True way and broke apart

I want you I need you
A chance is on I'm asking now
I must get back to you so now
So I am coming home to you
'Cause I am nothing without you
May be you found somebody new
'Cause I'm still coming home to you

Please let me stay and forget your pride
Now my world is falling round
I got know when behind

I want you I need you
I know with true I made you cry
Then like a fool I say goodbye
Now I am coming home to you
Yes I am nothing without you

May be you found somebody new
But I'm still coming home to you

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of John Farnham and Tom Jones's song "Hold On I'm Coming" depict a man who has made mistakes in his relationship and is now trying to reconcile with his lover. He expresses his desire to come back home to his lover's loving heart and his acknowledgment that he was the one who went astray and broke their relationship. He pleads with his lover to give him a chance to make things right, acknowledging that he needs and wants her in his life.

Throughout the song, the man shows remorse for his actions and tries to persuade his lover to forget about her pride and accept him back. He admits that his world is falling around him, and he has come to the realization that he needs her in his life. The man acknowledges that he made her cry and, like a foolish man, said goodbye. Still, he's still coming home because, without her, he is nothing.

The song "Hold On I'm Coming" was originally recorded by the R&B duo Sam & Dave in 1966, and it became a massive hit on both the soul and pop charts. John Farnham and Tom Jones recorded the song in 1988 for their album together, "Together in Concert." It's a soulful rendition of the original song, with Farnham's powerful vocals perfectly matched with Jones's rugged and soulful voice.

Oh Don't you ever feel sad,
Lean on me
when times are bad.
When the day comes and you're down,
In a river of trouble and I'm not around

hold on, I'm comin',
Hold on, I'm comin'

I'll go my way,
to your lover.
If i get cold
You better be my cover.
No need to worry `cause I'm here,
No need to suffer woman,
Coz i'm here...Yeah yeah

hold on, I'm comin',
hold on, I'm comin'.
hold on, I'm comin',
hold on, I'm comin'.

reach out to me
for satisfaction... Yeah yeah yeah
You gotta call my name
for quick reaction...yeah
Yeah yeah yeah yeah
Wow

Oh Don't you ever feel sad,
lean on me baby
When times are bad.
when the day comes and you're down down down down
in a river of trouble and I'm not around

hold on, I'm comin',
hold on, I'm comin'.
(Listen woman)
Oh hold on (don't you worry)
I'm comin' (leave it to me)
hold on, I'm comin'... Uhg
hold on, I'm comin',
hold on, I'm comin'.
hold on, I'm comin,
I'm getting on my feed
I'm getting on my way
I gotta sleep to through your baby... Alright
Here i come
And don't you worry about it...waaaa
Hold on cause I'm comin
Listen to me hold on
I'm comin, why don't you wait
Hold on and I'm comin
Wait for me baby
Hold on Ooh I'm comin... Aaah
Hold on baby I'm comin
Wait for me baby
Hold on

The best version!
TOM JONES: THE VOICE.

@2011littlejohn1

This is a great version but it's not better or worse than Wilson Pickett who was the innovative one along with Stax records who let it all hang out whilst Motown deliberately smoothed out the rough edges. It's also an indication of how the music which the British played had progressed and by then sounded authentic.

@chrisgriffiths8454

Absolutely

@erikakeese5692

He is the voice, none is better.

@Lemmax-X-exdom

@Erika Keese Yes is best. None singer in popular music had power voice of Tom Jones.
