And though it's been tough for you
Losing touch, but ah
Summer has its end sometimes
And although I can't promise you much
You'll be fine
You'll be fine
Somewhere in the darkness
It's hittin' you the hardest
Oh, no one predicted how far we came
It's not what you wanted
How fast the time goes
Living in the moment
Taking you for granted
It's a new normal
It's up to us to live in it
Not to understand it
You found your way but it's never enough
And though it's been tough for you
Losing touch, but ah
Summer has its end sometimes (yeah)
Although I can't promise you much
You'll be fine
You'll be fine
You don't pick your pages
That's how the story goes
And this life is what you make it
It's out of your control
It's almost like you're screaming
But no one hears your voice
'Cause everything is changing (oh)
You found your way but it's never enough
'Cause everything is changing (changing)
And I can't stop a thing
You found your way but it's never enough
'Cause everything is changing (yeah)
It's just a season
It's just a season
It's just a season
Just a (take me back to the start)
It's just a season
It's just a season
It's just a season

Losing touch, oh, ah
Summer has its end sometimes
Sometimes
The lyrics to Khalid's song New Normal speak to the idea of change and adjusting to a new way of life. The opening lines tell us that even when we find our way, it may not be enough to shield us from the difficulties that arise. The lines “And although I can't promise you much / You'll be fine / You'll be fine” provide reassurance that despite the uncertainties that lie ahead, things will eventually work out. The next verse describes a person making their bed in the darkness, highlighting the struggles and challenges they are facing. It then goes on to talk about how fast time goes and how easy it is to take things for granted. Khalid then points out that the new normal is something we have to live in rather than try to understand fully. The chorus then repeats the message that even though everything is changing, it is just a season, and things will be okay in the end.
Overall, the lyrics to New Normal are about adapting to change and facing the uncertainties that come with it. Khalid's message gives hope that even though change can be difficult to handle, it is ultimately survivable, and people can come out of it stronger than ever before.
